We’ve asked our judges to tell us what they’re looking for in our Financial Reporter Awards applicant – from showing that you’ve stepped out of your comfort zone to ‘steely determination’ to exceptional service levels, here’s what some of them had to say...
Louisa Sedgwick, Paragon Bank
I want to see real passion and drive, with an overarching willingness to learn and share those learnings.
Mike Farrell, LV=
The challenge when judging awards is to really understand the results that the individuals have achieved. I would encourage everyone who is making a submission to draw out the link between the work that has been done and the results achieved.
Sophie Mitchell-Charman, Lendinvest
Every nominee will bring something different to the category and to what they do, someone who has new ideas, is ambitious, supports co-workers and clients and someone who would challenge the norm are all things that I think will make this industry different and should be seen here.
Dale Jannels, One Mortgage System
I'm looking for those who have stepped out of their comfort zones to go over and above in helping their clients in difficult climates. Innovative solutions, structured approaches, regulatory champions and just being different will stand out for me.
Jason Wilde, Paragon Bank
A focus on a few different areas. Firstly, service and delivering the best outcome for customers not only now but also in the future. e.g. retention strategy case packaging, how your cases are presented in the best of lights to underwriters, with supporting documents and/or explanations of any potential issues you're aware of.
Tiba Raja, Market Financial Solutions
For me, some of the most value attributes that anyone in this industry can evidence is creativity. I want to see instances of where the nominees have gone that one step further to offer a solution for their clients because for me, that’s what the specialist industry is all about!
Jeff Knight, Grey Matter Marketing Solutions
There is not one thing. It is the total package. It is how nominees have adapted to a changing market and gone out of their way to help others.
Paul Adams, Pepper Money
What they believe really sets them apart from the rest. Tangible and deliberate tactics and strategies to use to excel in what ever it is they do.
Roger Morris, Tandem Bank
I would be looking for it all! Innovation is key to a UK mortgage market that keeps pace with the way that life is evolving, especially around the way the income is derived. Service is key, regardless of what profession or industry and exceptional management of people is key again, regardless of it being related to the mortgage industry - and it’s the combination of these factors that hopefully we will be celebrating on the night.
Carolyn Thornley-Yates, Stafford Building Society
I'm looking for obsessive pursuit of betterment, a non-acceptance of the status quo and a steely determination to change and innovate.
